Vladimir Suárez

From one apartment to seven markets.

This isn’t a CV. It’s how a small furnished rental business in Montreal became an international company, why I started investing beyond it, and what I learned along the way.

The journey

  1. [Year]

    Montreal, the first apartment

A simple idea in furnished accommodation: give travellers a real home, run with hotel discipline.

  2. [Year]

    Corporate Stays takes shape

Corporate housing for relocation, project teams and executives becomes the core of the business.

  3. [Year]

    First step into Latin America

[Which market came first, and why it was chosen.]

  4. [Year]

    From operator to investor

Masalto Capital is founded to invest in real assets and businesses alongside private partners.

  5. [Year]

    Embera Collection

A boutique hospitality collection, beginning with an island retreat in Panama’s Pearl Islands.

  6. Today

    Seven markets, 1,000+ apartments

Operating across Canada, Panama, Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, Chile and Costa Rica, and structuring real estate investments with private partners.

What the hard years taught me

A market I entered too fast

[The market, what went wrong, and the rule you now follow before opening a new country.]

A deal I walked away from

[What looked attractive, what the numbers or partners revealed, and why saying no was right.]

The hire that changed the company

[The moment you stopped running everything yourself and built a team and systems to scale.]

How I decide

Every opportunity goes through the same questions, whether it’s a building, a company or a new country.

  • Can we operate it better than anyone else? If not, it’s someone else’s deal.
  • Does demand exist without us? Corporate travel, relocation and leisure demand must already be there.
  • Are the partners right for ten years? Structures change; relationships carry the deal.
  • What happens if we’re wrong? I size the downside before I talk about the upside.
